Born on November 23, 1933 in Johnstown, PA to Lester and Kathleen (Chapman) Pebley, Kathleen died May 5, 2023 in Surprise, AZ at the age of 89. She was preceded in death by her brother Lester Pebley and his wife Lill, sister Lois Jean Jerwann and her husband Bill, brother Allen Pebley, and sister-in-law Lois Pebley (Harry).
She is survived by brother Harry (San Diego, CA), sister-in-law Pat (Allen) - MI, nephew Gary Pebley and wife Darlene, niece Cheryl Maggio and husband Joe, nephews Kevin Jerwann (Colleen), Keith Jerwann (Sue), Paul Pebley, Donald Pebley, David Pebley, niece Roxanne Gross and husband Steve, great-nieces and great-nephews, and many cherished friends.
Kathleen graduated from Johnstown Senior High School in 1951, obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Indiana State Teachers' College (Indiana, PA) in 1955, and completed a Masters' Degree in Guidance and Counseling from Ball State University in 1974. After teaching five years in the USA, she was employed by the United States Department of Defense Dependent Schools (DoDDS) overseas for a total of 37 years. During that time she taught in Morocco, Germany, The Philippines, and at Lakenheath Air Force Base in England. Upon retirement in 1997, she moved to Sun City West, Arizona and then to Surprise.
Kathy lived a life of travel and adventure, dedicating her time and energies to improving understanding of interpersonal relationships, self-awareness, and spiritual growth. Hers was a life of enthusiasm, humor, hope, and love,
No services are planned. Kathy will be laid to rest in Johnstown, PA, with a graveside family gathering at Grandview Cemetery at a later date. Her family and friends wish to extend heartfelt appreciation to special friend Judy Bailey, and to Hanan, Safi, Ruth, Merona, Adrian, Todd and the wonderful caregivers at CC's Adult Care Home in Surprise for their many kindnesses and loving care.
