Automotive and Electronic Instructor at Baily Technical Institute (ITT Technical Institute), and a United States Army Veteran, John Mark Newman passed away on May 14, 2021 following a short illness at the age of 76. Mark leaves behind a legacy of smiles, a love of life, and happiness to all and was considered the rock of his family. Mark was born in Phoenix Arizona to John H and Martha S Newman on January 21, 1945. Mark grew up in Safford, AZ until the age of 13 when his family moved to St. Louis, MO. Mark attended high school in the St. Louis County area. He enrolled at Central Missouri State University in 1963 to attend college. During his Junior year, he met his future wife, Ann Bohon. Mark enlisted in the Army in August 1967 and married the love of his life, Ann Bohon on December 22, 1967. Soon after the wedding, Mark was stationed in Vietnam for one year before being stationed at Fort Hood Texas from February 1969 - August 1970. After being honorably discharged from the Army, Mark and Ann with their first child, moved back to the St. Louis, MO area. In 1972, Mark became an Automotive Instructor at Baily Technical Institute (ITT Technical Institute) where he worked for 29 years until his retirement. Mark and his family then moved to Surprise, AZ where he worked at UTI in Arizona until he fully retired in 2012.
Mark is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ann Louisa Newman (Bohon) and eight children, Laura (Ron) Neff of Savannah, GA, Emilie Newman of Surprise, AZ, Lisa (Joshua) Wilhoite of Woodstock, GA, Cathy (James) Goins of Bloomfield, MO, Scott (Theresa Bogard) Newman of Savannah, GA, Debbie (Eric) Newman of Phoenix, AZ, Matt (Sarah) Newman of Lake Havasu City, AZ and Tony Newman of Surprise, AZ. Mark is also survived by his sister, Amy (Gene) Rouse, 16 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild.
Mark was preceded in death by his daughter Alicia, and by his parents.
Mark was a proud member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 285 in Surprise, Arizona where he served as Quartermaster for approximately 4 years. He earned several awards for his efforts in working with our American Veterans.

A Visitation will be held Friday, May 21, 2021 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, at Surprise Funeral Care, 16063 W Bell Rd, Surprise, Arizona. The Funeral Service will commence promptly, at 11:00 AM, with an Honors Ceremony.
Immediately following the Services, Friends and Family are invited to gather together, to reminisce and share laughs and smiles, which is how Mark wanted to be remembered.
