Rosemary, 
Visiting with Max this morning and seeing you seeking to build a new chapter in your story over the weekend brought to mind the fact that you have my deepest sympathy on the absence of your dear John.  There's a line from a play that gave me comfort when my mother died: death ends life, but it doesn't end a relationship.   Although I cannot even begin to compare the loss of my parents with that which you've experienced with the loss of John with whom you shared a joyous and consuming love (and many parties, from the sounds of it!),  I can assure you that as years have gone by, I've found the thought in that line to be true.  

John was so special!   I felt lucky to have known him  (I sure did hear so much about both of you that I felt like I knew him and especially you even before I had to chance to meet Rosie Rosemary and Jolly John on the hillside last year!).  It was fun to hear all of the stories your family told at the memorial and since.  What a beautiful soul!   What a gift he conferred to you and your kids in the family the two of you created and built. As I reread the words of Remember Me, it's clear that we will remember him and that the desire expressed in this piece that you chose has and will continue to be achieved; John lives on in the lives and the hearts of so many of you he blessed with his powerful love, his zest for life, and his willingness to tackle any challenge, whether that be the keyboard, the guitar, the move here, the last minute drives to Mexico, or the development of his little buddy!

John left a wonderful legacy of life and love for his family and friends. It was heartwarming to see his reaction to familiar and new faces. I recall with a tilt of his head and a slight smile how he would look you in your eyes and really see you. He was genuine. He will be remembered and missed.
