Helen Kathleen (Kat) Hartzog, a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed peacefully on Sunday, August 1st at home in Surprise. Born in Wolf Creek, North Carolina, to the Reverend Lester Cook and Sadie Bandy Cook on December 15th, 1933, she was their 4th child among 5 sons and 4 daughters. She married Robert Clore, Jr., in 1950, with whom she had 3 children: Michael Lynn, Roger Lee, and Cathie Laverne. Completing her high school education, she pursued professional training as an Administrative Assistant in the banking industry in Atlanta, Georgia. She married again in 1965 to Carl Leston Hartzog, and over the following 25 years lived in Georgia, Florida, and Louisiana until his passing. She subsequently moved to Arizona in 2020. She is survived by her son, Roger, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Though she is and always will be dearly missed, we who remain are content knowing that she has been released from the struggles and sorrows of this world and is joyfully present in the next with her family members who passed before.
