Barbara Ann Smith

Barbara Ann Smith passed away peacefully in her home after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was a wonderful daughter, wife, mother, sister and grandmother. Barbara was born on April 20, 1947 in St. Louis, Missouri to Robert and Annabel Rood. She was married to Terry Smith on July 9, 1966 and together they raised 4 children.

Barbara was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many callings over the years. She loved serving in the Young Women’s Program and with the Primary children. She emulated Christlike love to everyone she served. Barbara loved working on her Family History and is credited with finding many ancestors who had been lost. She loved serving in the Mesa and Phoenix temples.

Barbara was very talented and could often be found cross stitching, knitting, sewing or painting.

She loved being a grandma and her grandchildren are amazing people because they knew her.

Preceded in death by her mother, Annabel, father Robert and sister, Iris. Barbara is survived by her husband of 56 years, Terry; their 4 children, Ken (Zhanna), Jodie, Sandy (Aaron), Traci (Rob); 8 grandchildren and her brother, Rob.

Her funeral will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, October 29, 2022 in the chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 5250 W. Thunderbird Rd., Glendale, AZ. Everyone is welcome to come celebrate her life with Barbara’s family. Interment will follow at Phoenix Memorial Park and Mortuary.
