She was married to Eugene Edwin Sturgis in 1942. While Gene served in the Army for the next 4 years, Jimmy lived and worked in San Francisco, California. She was a regular volunteer at the USO there. In 1968, Gene’s job transferred them to Phoenix, Az, where they lived until retirement. She was very active in church functions and enjoyed getting together weekly with her bridge buddies.
Jimmy loved family gatherings and spoiling her grandchildren. She was sweet and kind, and a wonderful listener when you needed someone to talk to.
After retirement, they moved to Prescott Valley, AZ and in 2012 celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary!
Jimmy passed away at her home, July 11, 2015, at the age of 90. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend, and she will be sorely missed. She is survived by her son, Greg, her daughter, Cindy, 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Her Memorial Service will be held at the VA Chapel in Prescott, Arizona, Friday, July 17th at 10:00 am.
