John Mark Ferris, 96, of Peoria, AZ passed away on February 22, 2021 at Freedom Plaza Care Center. He was born in Van Wert County, Ohio to the late Rev. Mr. Homer D. and Ruth (Weldy) Ferris on June 5, 1924. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army Air Corp on a B 24 bomber in the Pacific Theatre. He was a 1949 graduate of Bowling Green State University in Ohio and a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. He was a lifelong Methodist, a member of the Elks Lodge, and the V. F. W. He is survived by his wife, Arlys (Gould), whom he married in 1999, three sons, Mark (Lois) of Ohio and Florida, Steven (Pam) of Texas, and James of Sun City, AZ, and three grandchildren, Jon (Jessie) Ferris of Mesa, AZ, Jenny (Ryan) Moshea of Woodinville, WA, and Todd Ferris of Denver, CO and five great-grandchildren. Also, surviving are four step-children, William (Vikki) Gould, Elizabeth Gould (Tom) Senn, Barbara Gould Hicks, and Kevin Gould, all of Sun City, AZ plus many step-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, his sister, Betty Ferris Welsh, and the mother of his three sons, Mildred Rice Cryer.
