Hazel B. Nuss, age 88, passed away in Sun City West with her son, Greg, by her side. Hazel was born in Helena, Montana, graduated high school from Riverdale, North Dakota, and met her husband, Ted W. Nuss, at the University of North Dakota at Grand Forks. Hazel, better known as Buzzi, moved 12 times during her life but lived the longest in Sun City West.
Buzzi was an excellent cook, believed in volunteering, loved to play bridge (cheap therapy), and going to the hairdresser weekly. She loved all the Hallmark channels and QVC. Buzzi would plan the best family vacations and her favorite was Walt Disney World. She loved nothing more than a warm pastry with a good cup of coffee, a neighborhood potluck, and any reason for a party. She never met a dog she didn’t like. Buzzi loved a Friday night fish fry, a summer fish boil, and missed living along Lake Michigan. Buzzi loved the Packers (Go Pack Go!) and the Suns. Buzzi was a wonderful wife and a great mom. She would say that is her greatest accomplishment. Her only regret is not going to the hairdresser daily.
Buzzi was preceded in death by the family dog Maggie and we are sure they are joyfully reconnecting, her grandson Benjamin Sauer, her husband Ted W. Nuss, her brothers Bill and Jerry Williams, and her daughter Susan Rae Sauer.
Buzzi is survived by her children: Cathy and Vincent Busey of Omaha, Nebraska, Greg Nuss and Laura Nguyen of Sun City West, Thomas Sauer of Manitowoc, Wisconsin; grandchildren: Michael A. and Camas Kakuk of Helena, Montana and Michaela Sauer of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; great-grandchildren: Eleanor and Rose Kakuk.
The family will celebrate Buzzi’s life at a later date when everyone can get together. Memorials to the St. Mary’s Food Bank or any food bank in Buzzi’s name.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.sunlandmemorial.com for the Nuss family.
