Gerald Kent Harrell passed suddenly Sunday February 10, 2013. He was born in Crestline, Ohio February 6, 1935 to Clarence and Anna Gerberich and adopted by Robert and Laverne Harrell in 1948. He graduated from Purdue University in 1960 and worked as a food technologist for much of his career. He was a member of the Sun City Lodge #72 Peoria #31 Geneva Lodge # F & AM. He volunteered with Sun City Meals on Wheels and Habitat for Humanity since his retirement in 2001. He was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church. He married his wife Nihla on January 25, 1959 who survives along with his son Jeffrey of Phoenix, daughter Rebecca (Jeffery) Brown of Peoria, AZ and a son Gregory (Annalee) of Oswego, NY. Grandchildren include Teresa Brown, Kassandra (Justin) Gibson, and Kevin Brown of Peoria, AZ, Benjamin and Abigail Harrell of Oswego, NY and Samuel Carpenter of Manchester, New Hamshire. In addition his sister Carol Shockley of Galion, Ohio, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased in death by sisters, Virginia Gerberich, Barbara Crothers, Patricia Travis, and Sharon Gerberich, and by brothers Richard, Neil, Duane Gerberich and Larry Harrell. A Memorial service will be held at Faith Presbyterian Church in the chapel Saturday February 16, 2013 at 2:00pm.
