He has was born in Ville Platt and relocated to Sulphur in 1942 where he worked for the next 35 years as an operator in local industries. In the 1950’s and 60’s, Mr. Gotro was also a fire fighter for the first Sulphur Volunteer Fire Department. After his retirement, Mr. Gotro enjoyed fighting roosters, dancing and chasing women.
Survivors include his daughter, Jamie Ahl and husband Jimmie of Sulphur; grandchildren, Casie Gotro, Joseph Gotro, Derrick Gotro, Christian Timphony, Farrah Timphony, Brooke Ezekiel; and four great-grandchildren, Wyatt Timphony, Piper Gotro, Ella and Max Ezekiel.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Troy Jennings Gotro; son, Rickey Gotro; parents, William and Eliza Gotro; and eight brothers and sisters.
Visitation for Mr. Gotro will be at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 9, from 5 - 9 pm. Visitation will resume on Thursday at 10am, with Funeral services commencing at 2pm. Interment will follow at Mimosa Pines Cemetery South of Carlyss.
