Rene Joseph Guidry

Rene was a native of Narco and lived in Sulphur for over 50 years. He attended St. Theresa Catholic Church in Carlyss. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 407. Rene was a grand gardiner. He loved being near his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years Lorraine Guidry; children, Gordon Guidry and his wife Mary of LaPlace, Nora Faye Woodward and her husband Tim of Jennings, Loretta Wells and her husband Ricky of Sulphur, Brenda Bertrand and her husband Johnny of Sulphur, Arthur Guidry of Sulphur, Yvette Breaux and her husband Charlie of Sulphur, Johnny Boy Guidry of Sulphur, and Sheila Guidry and her husband Ricky of Sulphur; sister Rita Gibbons of Sulphur; 20 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.

He is preceded in death by his son Ricky J. Guidry, and 3 grandchildren, Misty Rene Trahan, Brandon Lee Presley, and Michael Shane Guidry.

His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 5, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. The Rev. Thomas Vellappallil will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Sunday, with a rosary at 7 p.m., 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday, and from 8-10 a.m. Tuesday.
