Patsy was born on May 30, 1929 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Earl Barto Price and Ruth (Payne) Price. She married John Bartley on July 28, 1946. Across 69 years of married life, they made a home, reared three children, loved grandchildren, and were a blessing to their neighborhood and their church. Patsy worked for years in the retail business, provided child care for grandchildren and teacher’s children, but it was as a wife and homemaker she excelled. Her house was immaculate; her yard and landscaping was a source of pride and beauty. For her, housework, planting and growing, and planning new projects were a pastime and a hobby.
But, above all else, Patsy was a Christian. She was a member of Glad Tidings Church in Lake Charles. Always, she put her faith and her responsibilities to her Lord at the center of her life. Patsy served in many capacities at Southside Assembly of God Church in Sulphur for many years. She was a Christian wife and a gentle, consistent example to her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, John Bartley and by her children, Patsy Cole (Wiley), Sheila Kratzer (Gary), and Richard Bartley (Kim). She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Wiley “Chuck” Cole (Tammy), Kim Dupree (Sam), Mark Kratzer, Matthew Kratzer (Stephanie), Brook Jeter (Warren), Jessica Hayes (Justin), Michael Bartley (Jennifer) and by 15 great grandchildren.
The family would like to express their gratitude to all Patsy’s neighbors, sitters and friends who visited her, cared for her, prayed for her, and loved her through these last difficult months. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be given to the Kingdom Builders Fund at Glad Tidings Church, 3400 Texas St., Lake Charles, LA 70607.
