Mary Alice (Linker) McFatter, 87, of Sulphur, Louisiana, passed into the arms of her Savior on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 in Lake Charles, Louisiana. She was born to her late parents, Louis and Virginia Linker on October 4, 1935 in Sand Springs, Oklahoma. She enjoyed tending to her flower garden and was an avid reader (especially nonfiction). She was a proud graduate of Sulphur High School Class of 1953, where she was a member of the Royal Clippers. She also attended McNeese State University. Mary loved attending church whenever possible and enjoyed time spent with her family.
Those left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Daniel McFatter of Sulphur, Louisiana, John McFatter (Marjorie Dupont) of DeQuincy, Louisiana; one daughter, Genny Dunn (Jerry) of Carlyss, Louisiana; two sisters-in-law, Patsy McFatter of Kingwood, Texas and Dannie Joyce Marcantel of DeQuincy, Louisiana; three brothers-in-law, Ed McFatter of Sulphur, Louisiana, Nathan Marcantel of DeQuincy, Louisiana, and James Fox Lightfoot of Guthrie, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, Ashley Boyette (Phillip), Megan Austin, Tyler Austin (Allison), Ryan Dunn (Kayte), Rhonda Dunn, Colin Dunn, and Tayler Eads; six great grandchildren, Sophia Dunn, Caroline Austin, Paxton and Ivy Boyette, Hollyn Austin, and Katherine Eads; along with a host of nieces and nephews.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Huey Kyle McFatter; her parents; one sister, Sally Lightfoot; along with her grandson, Michael Thomas Dunn.
A Celebration of Mary's life will be held at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home on Monday, April 10, 2023, at 2:00 pm, with Chaplain Jeff Hopper officiating. Visitation will be at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home on Monday, beginning at 1:00 pm until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss, Louisiana.
