Born and raised in Alexandria, Louisiana, Margaret graduated from Bolton High School and went on to earn her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from McNeese State University. Margaret taught school for 20 years with the last 15 years of her career spent teaching 7th grade Louisiana History at Oakdale Junior High School. Margaret loved to crochet, cross-stitch, read, play Bingo, and play games on her computer and tablet. Her greatest love, though, was her family.
Margaret was a resident of Sulphur for the last 31 years and a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
Margaret is survived by her daughter, Lindi Weaver Bennett and husband, Eric; her granddaughter, Jazmine Bennett Young and her husband, Nathan; her great grandchildren, Aiden Young, Cinder Young, and Asher Young; her brother Steve Head and wife, Debbie; nephews, Dane Babin and Michael Head; and nieces, Christa Babin and Adele Babin Lee.
Margaret is preceded in death by her son, Allen Weaver; her parents, Odis and Opal Head; and her sisters, Jane Head Babin and Kathy Head.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Friday, November 1, 2019 and will resume at 9 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, November 2, 2019 at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Chapel. Rev. Lamar Huffman will officiate. Burial will follow in Mimosa Pines Cemetery in Sulphur, Louisiana.
