Linda Jane Bass Charlie, 66, died Sunday, February 8, 2015, in a local hospital. Linda was a native of Brownsfield, Texas and grew up in Beaumont, Texas. She then moved to New Orleans to work in food service for several years before meeting and marrying the love of her life, Clinton in 1966. They moved to Eunice in 1975 and opened Charlie's Poboys and Charlie's Restaurant and Catering Hall. Around 1984, they moved to Little Rock, Arkansas and opened Cajun Charlie's. After missing their home life in Louisiana, Mike Manuel helped get them home by offering them the opportunity to open a restaurant at Manuel's Truck Stop in Crowley. In 1988, they opened Cajun Charlie's Restaurant in Sulphur where they proudly served the community until their retirement in 2011. Linda enjoyed making and collecting ceramic dolls, cooking, and spending time with her family. Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Clinton Charlie; son, Mark Charlie and wife, Paula of Carlyss; grandchildren, Lace, Landon, and Marshall Charlie; great-granddaughter, Addyson Dupont; siblings, Larry Bass and Tasha Ellis of Picayune, Mississippi, Buddy Stephens of New Orleans, Brenda Phillips of DeRidder, and Marcy Carty of Woodville, Texas; and special friend who was like a son, Chauncey Davis. She is preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Patricia Bass; a daughter, Shelly Jean Charlie; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joseph and Mazie Charlie; and siblings, Donald, Rhonda, and Patricia Harrington, and Pam Fusilier. Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 11, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. The Revs. Phil Cochran and Kennon Geisendorff will officiate. Graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. in Les Chênes Verts Cemetery in Lanse Aux Paille. Visitation is from 2-9 p.m. Tuesday and 8 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday in the funeral home.
