Ernest graduated from Grand Lake High School in 1957. He was married to his high school sweetheart, Clara, for 63 years. Ernest was proud to be an Eagle Scout in Boy Scouts. He worked at Citgo for 39 years as an Operator. Ernest was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, St. Theresa Catholic Church, and a 3rd Degree Knight of Council 8058 in Carlyss, Louisiana. Ernest loved to spend time gardening and spend time with his family but especially his great-grandchildren.
Ernest was preceded in death by his parents, John and Susan Granger, a brother, Harold Granger, and a sister-in-law, Jennifer Granger.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Clara Granger; four children, Phyllis Ann Watts and husband, Bruce, Cyndi Granger Meche and husband, Tim, Glen Anthony Granger and wife, Lisa, and Theresa Marie Granger; four grandchildren, Blayne Matthew Meche, Ricky Joseph Guidry, Denee Quebodeaux, and Debra Ann Wilmoth and husband, Ryan; six great-grandchildren, Slayden Blaze Quebodeaux, Teagan Drake Quebodeaux, Breckon Layne Quebodeaux, Kynlee Grayce Istre, Regan James Guidry, and Riley Jade Guidry; one brother, Joseph Neil Granger; one sister, Judy Broussard and husband, Michael "Micky"; and a host of nieces and nephews and extended family members.
Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, May 10, 2021 at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home with a Rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will resume at 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Reverend Timothy Goodly will officiate service. Burial will follow in Grand Lake Cemetery under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home.
