Elvin Bryant Jinks, Sr., 78, went home to be with God, his wife, mom, dad and brother at 5:11 p.m. Saturday, July 14, 2018, in his residence surrounded by family, friends and his faithful friend, Zues.
He was a native of Johnson Bayou and lifelong resident of Hackberry. Elvin worked for many years and retired from the oilfield. He enjoyed chasing women but never catching them, running the roads, gardening, listening to French music, talking on the phone, and sitting outside smoking with "his" dog, Zues.
Survivors include his children, Kenneth Wayne Hettinger of Vidor, Texas, Elvin Bryant Jinks, Jr. of Hackberry, Claude Edward "Nig" Jinks of DeQuincy, Jimmie Jane Dill of Sulphur, and Brandi Jinks Touson of Lake Charles; his sisters, Annie Lou Boudreaux of Jennings, Carol Jean Istre of Blanchard, and Nola B. Hamm and husband, Wayne of Keithville; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Ora Jean Jinks; his parents, Eddie and Ethel Jinks; and a brother, John Kelvin Jinks.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Bro. Glynn Ducharme will officiate. Burial will be in the Hackberry Cemetery.
