He was a lifelong resident of Sulphur. Clyde was a member of Harvest Time Worship Center. He played a number of musical instruments but enjoyed playing the trumpet most. Clyde had been instrumental in petitioning the first archery season in Louisiana and continued to be active in competitions, Bayou Bowmen, senior Olympics and hunter education. He was also a owner of Archery Etc. He retired as an A operator at Firestone Polymers after 42 years of service.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Clara Pitre Eccles of Sulphur; two sons, Randy Eccles and wife, Donna of Carlyss, and David Eccles and wife, Nan of Sulphur; his daughter, Cherie Nichols and husband, Stacey of Dry Creek; one sister, Kaye Franklin and husband, Ben of Sulphur; seven grandchildren, Kayla, Kathy, Randi, Alden, and Garfu Eccles, and Alana and Victoria Nichols; and two great-grandchildren, Ryli Grace and Bella Grace.
His funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 22, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. His nephew, Rev. Benjamin Franklin will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss.
