Barbara Ann Kennedy

She was the beloved wife for 68 years to the late William Joseph Kennedy. Barbara was born in Ocala, Fla., on Sept. 1, 1929. She was one of three children born to the late Mr. and Mrs. Cicero Greene. Barbara grew up in High Springs, Fla. In December of 1949, Barbara married the love of her life and raised their two children, Billy and Charlotte, while living all over the world during Joe’s military career. The two retired and settled in Sulphur, and Hackberry, La., where they loved to fish, work in their beautiful yard, and RV around the country with their family and friends.

While supporting her husband’s military career, she held various offices for the NCO Wives Organizations that supported the soldiers and their families. One of her favorite activities later in life, was staying active with several local painting groups.

She is survived by her children, William “Bill” Kennedy Jr. and wife Melissa of Austin, Texas, Charlotte Vincent and husband David of Sulphur; four grandchildren, Rebecca Miller, Carrie Manchester, Nell Kennedy, Greer Kennedy; two great-grandchildren, Cameron Madsen and Brooklyn Manchester; and her sister, Marjorie Smith of Jacksonville, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Joseph Kennedy Sr.

Her visitation will be at noon, Friday, June 16, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home of Sulphur. Graveside service will be in Mimosa Pines, south of Carlyss at 2 p.m.
