WILLIAM BROWN (BILL) GOUGH, age 83, of Sugar Land, TX, passed away, Wednesday, October 13, 2010. Bill was born in Flint, Michigan, on February 14, 1927, the son of Celeste B. Gough and John Edwin Gough. He attended Highland Park High School, graduating in 1944 in Dallas, and he later graduated from Southern Methodist University. Bill married Marion (“Bunny”) Clark on October 11, 1947, and after graduating from SMU, he taught school in Dallas up through May of 1955, and then moved to Bellaire, TX, in August of 1955.
Bill was full of life and was very actively involved in everything that he did and would accomplish as much as he could. He was a Landman and worked for Monsanto and Texaco. He was awarded Outstanding Landman and was also the President of the Houston Association of Petroleum Landman from January of 1978 through June 30, 1979.
Bill was a devout Presbyterian serving the church as a Deacon and a Stephen Minister. He was always there to lend a helping hand or give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. Most importantly, he was a devout husband, father, and grandfather. He loved his family more than anything on earth.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Marion Clark Gough; sister, Phyllis Gough Huffington; brother-in-law, the Honorable Roy M. Huffington; and granddaughter, Kristiana Gough. He is survived by his two sons, Robert W. Gough, and Rip C. Gough; daughter, Phyllis Gough Harris; six grandchildren, Valient, Gabriel, Laurissa, Travis, and Thomas Gough, and Brooke Fatigante Lewis; and four great-grandchildren, Tyler and Trevor Gough, and Madison and Alexis Lewis.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family on Wednesday, October 20, 2010, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at the Settegast-Kopf Co. at Sugar Creek, 15015 Southwest Freeway, Sugar Land, TX 77478. A private family Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, October 21, 2010, at Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston, TX. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 PM, on Thursday, October 21, 2010, at Grace Presbyterian Church in the Founders Chapel, 10221 Ella Lee Lane, Houston, TX 77042, with the Rev. T. Douglas Ferguson, officiating. Following the service, a reception will be held at a location to be specified in the printed service program.
