William Jefferson Davis passed away peacefully on July 15th, 2015 at the age of 74 due to complications encountered following hip surgery. He was born on April 27th 1941 in Wharton, TX to Thomas Jefferson Davis and Katherine Dolores Sterry.

In 1963, following 6 months of active duty service in the United States Army, Jeff completed an additional 6 years as a Reservist Infantryman. He was Honorably Discharged as a Specialist E-4 in 1969. He began his civilian career with Gulf Oil in 1967 as an Exploration Geophysicists. In 1974, he joined a consulting firm Digicon Geophysical. In addition to individual contributions, Jeff managed a geophysical data processing department of 50 employees. Within 5 years, Jeff started his own data processing company Geoseis. For the next 30 years, Jeff worked independently to process seismic data for several major oil companies. In addition to data processing and seismic analysis, Jeff fulfilled his passion for writing software and “espousing unfounded opinions” in endless debates with his technical colleagues. He was an active member of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) where he presented a paper at the Annual Meeting of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists in September 1990. In 2008, Jeff retired to pursue his true passions of family, fishing Matagorda Bay, fast cars and ketchup! He also had time to work on his computers and continue to write programs. Jeff was a member of River Pointe Church where he recommitted his life to Jesus Christ via baptism in 2006.
Jeff is survived by his wife of 52 years Jana Varian Jones Davis; daughter Audra Jade Gonser with husband Kent Gonser, son Jared Sean Davis with wife Rebecca Blume Davis, seven grandchildren, and cousin Samantha Ione Weaver.
