Butch was born on September 11, 1956, in Syracuse, New York, to Owens Dale Grogan, Sr., and Phyllis May Newton Grogan, both of whom preceded him in death.
He spent his professional career as a software engineer at Schlumberger, where his colleagues admired him for his expertise, work ethic, and personality.
Beyond his professional life, Butch was an avid outdoorsman with properties in the West Texas Hill Country and a river camp in Canada. These retreats were his favorite places to enjoy hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors. He was also an accomplished wood carpenter and enjoyed playing golf. He had a deep love for his family and friends, cherishing the time they spent together traveling, enjoying good food and drinks, and watching ball games.
Butch is survived by his devoted wife of 34 years, Dana Burke Grogan; his daughters, Tara Grogan, Amanda Grogan, and Annie Grogan; grandson, Adrian Nathaniel, Jr.; and his sisters, Karen Grogan Kerr and Janice Grogan VanDeusen.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude’s Hospital.
