“And now here is my secret, a very simple secret: It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential to the invisible eye. The most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or touched, they are felt with the heart.” The Little Prince, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
Malgosia, aka Margaret (Miamcu to her twins), embodied these words. She viewed the world using her heart-- guided by compassion, empathy, and kindness. As a wife, mother, sister, and friend, her heart touched and brought joy to all who met her. Malgosia was a unique combination of beauty, intellect, class, perseverance, and character. She put her heart into everything she did, including overcoming adversity as a strong computer scientist in a largely male dominated field.
One could find her in a range of activities, from programming complex code, playing spider solitaire, all the way to reveling in her love of perfume. She loved to read, run, walk, and most importantly spend time with her husband Marek, her twins, Ania & Ewa, her schnoodle, Yoshi, and her grandschnoodles, Robbie & Mis.
She maintained her positive outlook even in her last days. Rather than perseverating on the injustice of being afflicted with lung cancer, despite never smoking, she focused on what she was grateful for—her dedicated husband, who never left her side, her twin daughters, and her friends. May we all view the world with our hearts. May we all have even a bit of her spark within us. The world would be a better place.
“Open your eyes, and see what you can with them before they close forever.” All the Light We Cannot See, Anthony Doerr
“The very life of any creature is a quick-fading spark in fathomless darkness. That’s God’s truth.” All the Light We Cannot See, Anthony Doerr
