Kim is survived by her husband of 35 years, Jacob “Jake” Poroo; her daughter Whitney Baker and son-in-law Chris of Kingwood, TX; son Michael Poroo and daughter-in-law Leslie of Sugar Land, TX. Kim was blessed with three grandchildren, Dyllan Baker, Blayne Baker, and Georgia Poroo. Siblings include brother Greg Ammons, and sister Robin Ammons, all of whom she loved dearly.
Kim graduated from Fort Walton Beach High School in 1978. Shortly thereafter, she began her professional career in Athens, GA where she also met and married her husband Jake. Following the birth of their two children Kim and Jake relocated to the outskirts of Houston, TX in 1985. Kim retired in 2008 and actively engaged her passion for family and volunteer work. Some of Kim’s most recent philanthropies included Fort Bend Seniors Meals on Wheels and the Fort Bend Junior Service League. She had a passion for the elderly and routinely volunteered at local senior living facilities.
A service in Kim’s honor will be held at St Theresa Catholic Church on Monday, November 6th, 2017. Visitation at 10:00am, followed by a service at 11:00. 705 St. Theresa Blvd, Sugar Land, TX 77498. Deacon Gilbert Rodriguez will officiate the ceremony.
Please join the family immediately following the service to celebrate Kim’s life with music, pictures and stories at one of Kim’s favorite nearby venues, RCC. Lunch will also be served in the family friendly environment. 11110 W Airport Blvd, Stafford, TX 77477.
