Although you left this world one year ago today, you are never far from my mind. There are little pieces of you that subtly weave themselves into my daily life and keep your memory alive. 

One day, it might be the miniature TXI cement mixer that sits on the office shelf, another, it is seeing one of your favorite hats lovingly perched on my Jesse's head, and still another, it is scrolling through one of the many photos I have of you on my phone--each of these, and more, bring you back to life in my mind. 

A warm smile, twinkling eyes, a deep laugh, insatiable curiosity,  kind nature,  genuine love and unshakable loyalty --this is how I remember you today and everyday.  Although I miss you, these fond images of you always bring me comfort.

At the end of every conversation my pops had with one of us sons, he would say “Take care of business.”. Growing up, we knew these 4 simple words meant to follow the high expectations he had set for us.

Many of us feel like an unrepairable hole has been left in our hearts, but my Pops wouldn’t want it that way. You see, my dad found the secret to happiness that many people spend their whole lives looking for- his joy came from the lives he touched and impacted. And although he is gone, he left behind the example that he set for us. 
 
I hope everyone will follow his example, listen to his words, and take care of business. 



My Pops gave me many gifts throughout his life, but the best gift of all  was making me Jesse Jr.. I am so honored to be named after such an incredible father, husband, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was the leader of the family and constantly set great examples for his sons. I have so many great memories with my Pops that I will always cherish. I’ll miss his calls to ask about sports or medical stuff. I’ll never forget how much he enjoyed spending time and hosting gatherings with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. I love you Pops and will miss you everyday. 

Although I have known Pops for a lil less than 10 yrs, that never seemed to matter because he & Momma Maria as well as the whole family made me feel like it was all my life. My greatest memories was a weekly visit spending time with Pops & Mom. We laughed & sometimes even cried but it was the most positive feeling that I knew our visits  God was always present . And when Momma was talking..the way he looked at her was the most beautiful thing!! Utmost respect & love he had in his heart is amazing! Pure heart of gold ! It’s been my honor to have known such a God loving man whom loves his self & his family & friends. Until we meet again.. Love always,

Compadre Jesse was a very loving, special and caring to everyone with a heart of gold. I  love him and my comadre Mary with all my heart and made beautiful momemories together for 50 years. We played cards, went dancing and partied together attended all our boys sports games and banquets but most of all spend alot of great fun and quality time together. After Joe I was there every day and he always greeted me with a great big  smile and always thanked me for coming and helping the love of hisife my comadre.  He drove my car to try to diagnose a noise but it would not make the noise so he said it must not be bad so drive it . Last I bought a steel shelf that needed to be put together so I ask if he would put it together. He said sure I will try but  am not very good with things and I  always have extra screws left. So he took it off my car and he, comadre andI tried. Well we put it together and yes we had screws left over so I  told him its okay compadre its for the storage closet. So with a smile he put it in my car. He was z very special man with so much love, compassion, kindness and respect for everyone. Compadre RIP until we meet again. You are gone but never forgotten and always in our hearts.  I  will continue to pray, love and care for my comadre Mary .

Popo was the best grandfather. He was supportive, caring, and loving. He would always come to my soccer games, swim meets and theatre performances. Even when I did not play/swim well, or I just had a small part in theatre, he would still say how wonderful I did. His random texts throughout the week, would always brighten my day. He once drove me to lunch with a friend. Even though I was not having lunch with him, he told me that he was still happy because he got to see me and spend time with me. I will miss how he always was interested in what was going on in my life. He would love to hear about school and the stuff we were learning. I will miss his drawings of a face he put on every card. He always made me feel so loved. I miss him so much. Love you always Popo. 


Popo was the best grandpa anyone could ask for. I loved going to his and Momo’s house almost every weekend while I was growing up. With all the grandchildren there, their house was always filled with so much joy, love, and laughter. I loved playing on the swings or having Popo help me across the monkey bars. One of the most memorable things about Popo is how present he was in my life. Whether it was at my soccer games, birthdays, a holiday, or just a weekend, Popo was always there in his sunglasses and fedora. He was always so supportive and came to so many of my soccer games. He would wait after every game to greet me with a hug and talk about how the game or my day at school went. On every birthday, he and Momo would come visit me and bring me a card. Popo always included a little smiley face drawing and a message with a lot of “O.K.s” in it. I remember how much Popo loved his birds and pets, especially his chickens. When Fred got hurt, he took such good care of him. I remember when his dog Tiger passed, Popo and I walked down his street picking pink flowers because he said that they were Tiger’s favorite. One of my favorite memories is going out to eat with Popo at Sweet Tomatoes. I loved getting the chance to talk to Popo and just spend time with him. Even though we were just at restaurant, he made that day feel so special, and I felt so loved. He has many grandchildren, but he always took care to get to know each one individually. I loved making him cards for every occasion and getting to see them hung up on the walls in the sunroom. I’ll miss getting to tell him about the trips I went on and telling him about all the places I want to visit. I’ll miss his hugs and going to astros games with him. I’ll love and miss you forever, Popo. 

Some of my best memories growing up were times spent at Momo and Popo’s house. Going to their house on Sundays was always a great part of my weekends, and I loved playing outside with my cousins and the dogs. I remember my cousins, sisters, and I all trying to sit on the bench swing with Popo and, when we didn’t all fit, loving how he would push us as high as possible on the regular swings. I remember him taking my sister and me to an arcade and winning lots of tickets, so we could pick out whatever prize we wanted. One of my favorite memories with Popo is going to the restaurant Sweet Tomatoes and then mini-golfing together. Neither of us were particularly good at mini golf, but it was special to be able to spend the whole day laughing and talking together. I’ll miss his excitement to show me the small things that brought him joy like his vegetable garden and his two chickens. I loved getting texts (with periods after every word) checking in on me and wishing me a good day. I’ll miss how he called me “Katie” and was often there after my sports games with a smile and big hug. I loved the many cards I received with his signature drawing of a stick figure in a hat, and I will always think of him when I see fedoras. Popo was always excited to hear about my travels, asking me to point out the countries on his globe that I had visited while I showed him pictures and told him stories. I’ll miss getting phone calls from him with questions about everything from outer space to the birds in his backyard. He was the best grandpa and always made time for all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren, ensuring that we all knew how proud he was of us. I will miss him forever and think of him each day. I love you always Popo. 

At the age of 10 yrs old I was a very Fortunate young boy who was introduced to the Sanchez Family , As well as many young people in our Neighborhood Mr.Big Jesse Sanchez Treated us all as His kids, Through Giving Love , Discipline, laughter and so much more. From the Time that I met Mr. Jesse Sanchez and until the End He always reminded me what the Ultimate goal was , And that was to be Kind , Loving , Caring and friendly to all, Just as He and His wife, My momma.. Mrs. Maria,Not only beautiful , caring, funny, strong and last but not least SoSo LOVING as they both were grateful and inspiring people. Though Big Jesse was not my Father , He has been my POP whom I've  cherished many laughter's  and sorrows with. I Will always think of you ( POP) and always remember words of direction and Love!! Ruthie and I miss and Love You! We made a deal and I promise I WILL DO OF WHAT WE SAID....Love Your Son, Christopher

My husband, who I loved very much, has left us. I will miss and love him forever. He was a great husband for 57 years. I am very lost without him. He loved all his sons, family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Every morning, before breakfast, we would both read the Bible, and then he would read Joe scripture. After this, we would have coffee and talk for an hour. We would go everywhere together including our doctor appointments, walks, and the beauty shop, where he would wait for me in the car until I was done. I will miss him forever, and he was a dedicated husband. 

One of my last memories of Popo Sanchez was at my house for Laura B's gender reveal. He was standing off to the side and I had just come around to greet everyone. I told him hello and gave him a hug I said look at you with your hat very festive!! He then stepped back smiling ear to ear and said, “you like it”!??  with his hand on his hat! He was just so happy that day he could be a tough cookie so you could not always read him but this day you could tell nothing was ruining his vibe! Unfortunately, everything happened and now as the family is dealing with some of the toughest days, I go to see Grandma Sanchez and as I hug her, she tells me Popo was tired and he told me that the hug you gave him the day at your house made him so happy! To hear that made me stop and think wait so was that our goodbye? It is just so crazy how things turn out once you think about it. He was not my biological grandfather, but he was my bonus grandfather! You will be missed by so many, and we all will make sure to take care of Grandma Sanchez. May you RIP and send my love to my angels up there.

Dad shared a funny moment when he and joe went to an Astro’s game. Julia was walking by and Joe ask her to take a pic with her and dad to take the pic well dad took the pic but he turn the camera toward him not knowing. Joe ask to see the pic and he had a pic of dad. I could go on with memories 4 ever. Thanks for the memories POP!!!😇😇😇😇

I remember the time you took me and Cora to the movies to see the movie happy feet and told us “get the remote” bc you thought it was too loud. That was a fun day I’ll always remember. I remember when all the grandkids would come over and we would all go out in the backyard to play and you would push us all on the swings super high. I also remember when you would take Marcus, Pj, and me to Whataburger when they came back in town bc you knew how much they missed it. You were and still are the definition of the perfect Popo. You’ll live on in my heart and many other hearts forever. I’ll miss you calling me and leaving silly voicemails when I wasn’t able to answer your calls and calling me “Laura B” and getting birthday cards from you with your artistic drawings of you and Momo.

When Hunter was a baby Vickie gave Tony a swing set. Tony ask dad and I to pick it up for him at Vickie’s house so dad and I went to a house thinking it was vickie’s house, dad and I started to take it apart and Tony called us ask were we were we said in the backyard Tony laughed and no ur not I’m in the backyard. Dad and I look at each other laughed this get out of here before we get arrested. Dad I’m going to miss the life lessons, laughters, talks, house projects, breakfast and just hanging out. I’m going miss ur laughter, smile, talks hugs. I love u, and I’m going miss u pop. RIP love Big kid

A man to whom I admired as a father figure, a mentor to his fellow peers and always willing to help when help was need. A dedicated family man to which he loved more than life itself. I remember when Pops seen me in my security uniform for the first time. He had to take a picture. Then he told me to be careful and he also said to stop working over night and trust and believe I did. He was a caring Loving Father I seen it with my own eyes just as well he showed it just as well as Momma. I wouldn't trade them for the world. I Love you to the moon and back


Another memory is when I showed up to the house in my security uniform he liked it but said I needed to stop working over night and trust and believe I did. He said I needed to be home at that time. If that's not a Loving Father I don't know what else to say. When he talked I listened just as well as Momma.  Two beautiful people I can hones say they care. Lord knows I wouldn't give them up for no one. It's hard to find good kind hearted people like that and I did. Love you all to the moon and back

Pops was a beautiful kind hearted man who I meet threw his Josiah his son while taking care of him. He open his house and arms toe just as well as Momma did. I grew on them as if I was one of there owns. We use to talk and and eat together as a family even tho I wasn't. I know he wasn't my Pops but I acknowledge him as mines and Momma to. I loved them both and the family. He will be Loved dearly and missed. Love u Pops always
