Hans earned his Degree in Engineering. He worked for the U. S. Army as a civilian for four years. It was during this time that he met Hildegard, his best friend and wife for the next fifty-four years. Hans and Hildegard immigrated to the United States, arriving in January, 1957. Hans proudly earned his United States Citizenship on August 1, 1962.
He then moved on to work as an Engineer specializing in Seismic Exploration for twenty-seven years. His work brought him to places around the world. Hans would always bring back mementos and experiences of the countries he visited to share with his family.
After his career as an Engineer was finished, he worked as a Building and Security Representative at The Methodist Hospital for seventeen years.
His generosity with his family was always present, giving his love, time, and willingness to help in solving anything.
Some of the things he enjoyed throughout his life included reading, cooking, music, photography, woodworking, history, and his beloved cats.
Hans was preceded in death by his parents, mother Gertrud and stepfather Karl Anders. Hans is survived by his loving and devoted wife of fifty-four years, Hildegard; daughter, Audrey and her husband Jaime; son, Glen; grandchildren, Kirk, Lindsey and her fiancé Joel, and Daniel and his wife Emily; great-grandchildren, Zoey and Edith; brother, Gunther; and sisters, Edith and Ingrid.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Hans’ life will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 29, 2011, at the Settegast-Kopf Co. at Sugar Creek, 15015 Southwest Freeway, Sugar Land, (Williams Trace Exit).
