Gertrude Kirkwood Sanders age 79 of Missouri City, Texas and was called home by her Savior on Monday, March 26, 2018. Funeral Services are at Settegast-Kopf Funeral Home in Sugarland Texas with Pastor Jeffrey McDowell officiating beginning Friday, March 30, 2018 at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Galveston Memorial Park in Hitchcock Texas under the direction of The Settegast-Kopf Co. @Sugar-Creek. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at the funeral home.
Gertrude was born January 28, 1939 in Zachary Louisiana to Smiley David Kirkwood and Effie Mae McLin Kirkwood. She grew up in Zachary Louisiana and graduated from Zachary High School. She attended an LSU Football game where she met the love of her life, Albert Sanders. Albert and Gertrude were married July 16, 1960. They had 55 blessed years together until Albert was called home in December 2015.
Gertrude was also preceded in death by both of her parents Smiley David Kirkwood and Effie Mae McLin Kirkwood and her two brothers David S. Kirkwood and William N. Kirkwood and one sister Evelyn Kirkwood Neusetzer.
Gertrude is survived by her two daughters, Shelly Scott and husband Robert Scott of Missouri City, Texas and Jo Harriger and husband Brian Harriger of Woodbury, Minnesota; six grandchildren, Geni Scott Gonsoulin and husband Chad Gonsoulin, Adam Scott and wife Megan Scott, Ryan Allen Scott, Matthew Scott , Jodi Higa and husband Jesse Higa and Jamie Perez and husband Giovanni Perez.
Gertrude has nine great grandchildren, Alexis Gonsoulin, Zachary Gonsoulin, Ginna Gonsoulin, Winter Scott, Graylee Scott, Seth Sarmiento, Tyler Higa, Christian Higa and Madelyn Perez.
Pallbearers are Adam Scott, Ryan Scott, Matthew Scott, Chad Gonsoulin, Zachary Gonsoulin and Wendell Easley.
