Esther was married to her loving husband, Benjamin Franklin Lockhart for 32 years. She was the daughter of Gwendolyn and “Mac” McPhillips, and sister to John (Jack) McPhillips and Allen McPhillips – all of whom who she follows to heaven. Esther was a loving mother to three children – Peg Ferguson of Sugar Land, Texas, Mary Ann Lockhart of Portland, Oregon, and son, John Arthur Lockhart of Schaumburg, Illinois. She was also blessed with four grandchildren, Brandon and Brian Ferguson, Ben Lockhart, and Angela Martin-Lockhart, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Esther was known for her giving heart and open arms. She was an accomplished watercolor artist who particularly enjoyed nature scenes and local landmarks. Her paintings grace both public and private collections throughout the United States and Canada.
Services to honor Esther’s life will be held at 1:30 PM, on Wednesday, July 7th, 2010, at The Settegast-Kopf Co. @ Sugar Creek, 15015 Southwest Freeway, Sugar Land (Williams Trace Exit). Interment will follow on Thursday, July 8th at 11:30 AM, at Sunset Memorial Park, San Antonio, Texas, where she will be laid to rest alongside her loving husband.
