William “Bill” Anthony Rizzo, Sr. of Suffern, NY. Died February 17, 2012 at age 83. Born August 1, 1928 in New York City to Frank and Rose (DeLeo) Rizzo. He served honorably with the US Army from 1950-1952 during the Korean Conflict. Bill married his beloved wife Stella J. Scala on June, 28, 1952. Bill retired from the NYC Department of Sanitation and was a Mason by trade. Bill and his wife Stella owned Stella’s Country Deli on Airmont Rd. from 1973 to 1976. They then opened and operated Stella’s Deli on Route 59 and College Road until they retired in 1996. In addition to his wife he is survived by his loving children Dr. Joseph Rizzo, Patricia Rizzo, Rosanne Erickson (Robert), Gabriel Rizzo (Marisa) and Billy Rizzo, cherished grandchildren Ariane Rizzo, Joseph Rizzo, Jr., Robert Erickson, Jr., Kristine Erickson, Martine Rizzo, Sophie Rizzo and Camille Rizzo and a devoted sister Jean Caggiano. Predeceased by siblings Pete Rizzo, Gabriel Rizzo, Angelo Rizzo, Frank Rizzo, Mildred Rizzo, Josephine Thomas and Antoinette Fischer. Visitation Friday 2-4 & 7-9pm at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home 177 Route 59 in Suffern. Funeral mass Saturday 11am at Sacred Heart Church in Suffern followed by an Entombment at Ascension Cemetery.
