Robert Joseph Schultz, a pillar of his community, dedicated public servant, and beloved family man, passed away on May 25, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 3, 1950, in Brooklyn, NY, to the late Francis and Marjorie Hunter Schultz.
Robert was a devoted husband to Rosemary Collins Schultz, whom he married on May 2, 1992, sharing 32 years of love and companionship. He was the loving father of Rebecca Conjura (Kenny), and cherished grandfather of Tyler, Morgan, Austin, Logan, and Camren. Robert also embraced his role as stepfather to John Mursch (Rose) and was a loving grandfather to Tyler and Nick. Sisters, Donna and Debra Schultz. Robert was a second father to his nephew Richard Collins and was the caring uncle to several nieces and nephews. He was a source of strength and guidance to his family, always there with a kind word and unwavering support.
A retired Police Officer with the Village of Suffern Police Department, Robert dedicated 34 years of his life to protecting and serving his community. His commitment to public safety was matched only by his dedication to the Columbian Engine Company #1 of Spring Valley, where he was a member for an impressive 57 years and served as Past Chief of the Spring Valley Fire Department. Robert's passion for firefighting and his leadership within the department left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
In addition to his distinguished career in law enforcement and firefighting, Robert was an active member and officer of numerous organizations in the county and state. His selflessness and tireless work ethic were evident in every aspect of his life, and his contributions to his community will be remembered for generations to come.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on Thursday, May 30, 2024, from 2-8 PM at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home, located at 177 Route 59, Suffern, NY. A Firematic Service will be held at 7PM to honor Robert's service and dedication to the firefighting community.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church in Suffern, NY, on Friday, May 31, 2024, at 10:30AM, followed by burial at Ascension Cemetery in Airmont, NY. Donations can be made to the American Heart Association in Robert's memory www.heart.org
