Robert Alan Aviles of Airmont, NY passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, August 15, 2024. He was 69 years old. Robert was born on May 12, 1955, the fourth of seven children, to the late Edmond Duran and Ann Marie (Novak) Aviles in Brooklyn, NY. Their lives were never the same. It was the last time they slept through the night.
Larger than life, Robert charmed everyone. His family adored him, his friends followed him to the ends of the earth, and almost every woman he met still remembers him with a wistful smile.
Robert loved the Yankees, fishing, darts, foosball, dogs, grilling, and having the best lawn in the neighborhood. The tales he told (true or otherwise) left everyone in stitches. He brought the party with him.
More than anything else, he was all about his family. He was so proud to be an Aviles - and of each and every member - their humor, their brilliance, their passions, their love for each other. At the end he would say, “And the moral of the story is - have a tight family.”
He is survived by his cherished children, Ashleigh Iris Aviles, Robert Jason Aviles and Gina Marie Aviles, and his “favorite” siblings, Annmarie (Amy) & David White, Candi Aviles, Edmond & Nicole Aviles, Susan & Chuck Gaetano, Brian & Sue Aviles, and Melissa & Jerry Jefferson. He is also survived by his many amazing nieces and nephews: Khristy, Brian, Kim, Tara, Ann Marie, Luc, Casey, Kelly, Krista, Brian, Mikey, Robbie, Juliann, Chris, and Kevin.
Robert is predeceased by his beautiful wife and childhood sweetheart, Marla.
To celebrate Robert’s life with his family, mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church in Suffern, NY on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at 10:30 A.M. A private burial to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The National Foundation for Cancer Research in Robert’s name.
