Mrs. Nadia Berotte, age 91, died Friday evening, April 17, 2020 at the Sarah Neuman Nursing Home in Mamaroneck, NY due to COVID -19.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 56 years, Leonce Cadet Berotte and her son, Roland Berotte, her brother Auguste Giordani, her sisters: Florence Bayas, Laura Thomas and Gloria Temple.
She is survived by her four daughters: Carole Berotte Joseph of Richmond, TX; Yolene Armstrong of Pomona, NY; Marie Jose Montañez of Richmond, TX and Miriam Francis of North Brunswick, NJ. and her ten (10) grandchildren: Marjorie A. Joseph, Claudine M. Nadia and her husband emigrated to the US providing a better life and opportunities for their children. She balanced well the role of wife, mother and career woman. She was a life-long learner and attended adult education classes at various community colleges earning many certificates of achievement. After her retirement from healthcare and administrative positions, she volunteered at libraries, schools and churches. Upon her husband’s passing, she relocated to the Spring Valley area and volunteered during the day at Hempstead and Summit Park Elementary schools through the VISION program and in HAPA’s after-school homework program. Nadia’s infectious smile and warm personality brought joy and laughter to everyone who came in contact with her. We cherish her many expressions of love and encouragement among them, “It’s better to laugh than to cry” and “Together we are strong”.
Due to the Coronavirus epidemic, the family will not hold visitation for the general public but a limited private viewing will take place at the Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home in Suffern, NY for the immediate family.
Father Levelt Germain, Pastor of St. Joseph’s Church in Spring Valley, NY will be officiating the Final Commendation at Ascension cemetery in Airmont, NY. Entombment will follow at the Garden Crypt Mausoleum.
We will honor Nadia, at a later date, with a Memorial Mass and Celebration of her life.
