She was born May 19th, 1936 in County Monaghan, Clones Ireland. She is the daughter of Hugh and Lena (Ward ) Hand.
Kathleen was predeceased by her husband Louis Reda of 60 years. She is predeceased by her brothers Brendan, Billy, Jerry, Jim, sister Blauna. Surviving sisters are Eva, Mary, Margaret, and Alice. She is predeceased by her grandson Liam.
Growing up, Kathleen won awards for Gaelic and Irish step dancing. In 1959, Kathleen came to the United States through JFK to pursue a career in nursing. At this time, she met the love of her life Lou Reda on a blind date. They married and moved to Chestnut Ridge. They had five children. Lou opened his pharmacy in 1977 and she assisted in running it for over 30 years. For many years as a competitive Irish step dancer, she passed that experience on to her students as a teacher. She became active in Anglo American Women’s Club as well as AOH.
She is survived by sons Brendan, Andrew, wife Yanara, Bill, wife Lourdes, Robert and daughter Rosemary. She was blessed with so many grandchildren: Liam, Caitlin, Emily, Patrick, Sean, Ottice, Gabriela, Daniel, Allison, Grace, Fallon, Giselle, Lilly and great grandson Roman.
Friends and family can call on Friday, October 18th from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-9:00 at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home 177 Route 59, Suffern, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Church of the Presentation, 271 West Saddle River Road, Upper Saddle River, NJ on Saturday, October 19, at 11:15 am. Interment burial to follow at Ascension Cemetery Airmont, NY
