Junia was a vibrant spirit, known for her impeccable sense of fashion and her joy in shopping—perhaps a bit too much! Music was her heartbeat; she loved to listen to and dance to Kompa and gospel, filling every room with joy. Her simple pleasures were watching romance shows, like Bridgerton and The Bachelor, and she enjoyed daily phone calls with friends and family.
Junia was also the beloved chef of the family; her cooking was a feast that drew everyone to her home, and even her coworkers eagerly awaited to eat her meals. However, her greatest joy came from her grandchildren, whom she adored and spoiled with love, thoughtful gifts, and their favorite snacks. Junia’s nurturing heart extended to everyone she cherished, especially her children and kitten, Milo.
Junia dedicated 30 years of service as a Secure Care Therapy Aide at the Rockland Children’s Psychiatric Center in Orangeburg, NY, and over 10 years as a Resident Care counselor at Saint Dominic’s in Nanuet, NY. Her unwavering commitment and nurturing spirit profoundly impacted the lives of countless children and families, leaving an indelible mark on all those she encountered.
She is survived by her beloved mother, Celia Julmice; devoted children, Dwayne Tranquille, Tanichka Tranquille, Erica Descartes, and Elisa Descartes; and her daughter-in-law, Leah Tranquille. Junia was also a loving sister to her twin, Junie Clautaire, and her brothers and sister: Kercius Jean, Ignace Jean, Ricot Jean, Lydie Jean, Muller Julmice, Ronald Julmice, Wilfredo Doly and Nène Erol Doly. She treasured her grandchildren, Emanuel, Justin, Abigail Tranquille, and Angela, Veronica Cotten.
Junia is also survived by her nieces and nephews: Kerleen Jean, Tatiana Clautaire, and Christie Clautaire, Hakeem Jean, Lyndine Jean, Ricardo Jean, Johnathan Obas, Mitch Julmice, Christopher Julmice, Sebestian Jean, Christian Jean. She is also survived by her aunts and uncles Immacula Durosier, Marie Junie, Delinois Julmice, and Martha Julmice.
Junia was predeceased by her beloved granddaughter, Aniyah Selene Tranquille, and her brother, Isma Jean.
