Joe was born on April 10, 1925 in Borsodgeszt, Hungary. Joe was a world renowned dog trainer in the 50's and 60's. Touring the country with Superman and the cast with Rex the Wonder Dog . Rex was trained in Hungary by Joe for the main purpose of helping his family and relatives and several other families escape through the "Iron Curtain" of the communist border. He and his wife and son trained dogs for tv, stage, circus acts, as well as night patrol and all types of other more serious work. He was also a consultant for the Rin Tin Tin show. He then became a world renowned German Shepherd breeder and exhibitor and AKC judge. Revered even by the top experts, breeders and past presidents of the German SV. From his popularity and lifelong experience he had judging assignments from coast to coast as well as Canada, Nova Scotia and the Caribbean. Even presented with "Keys to the City" from several places. He was past president of the Northern New Jersey German Shepherd Dog Club, a board member of the German Shepherd Dog Club of America and a lifelong member of the German S.V. Joe has bred or owned over 85 champions and the Bihari Kennels bloodlines exist on every continent today.
Joseph is survived by his beloved son Joseph Bihari Jr. and wife Linda, cherished grandchildren Christopher Bihari and Alayna Bihari, and two nephews Sylvester and Christian who reside in Hungary. He was predeceased by his loving wife Maria in June 2006.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 from 7-9PM at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home, 177 Route 59, Suffern, NY and on Thursday, April 2, 2015 from 9:30 -11AM. A funeral service will be celebrated on Thursday, April 2nd, 11AM also at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home. Committal is private.
