As part of America’s “Greatest Generation” Dad joined the Civilian Conservation Corps after high school, working in Nevada. Then, at the outbreak of WWII joined the US Navy. His ship, the USS Hobson participated in several major engagements to include the D-Day invasion and Okinawa.
After marrying Barbara Louise Norton in 1950, John began work at Allendale Equipment Company until he retired. He was also a long-time member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Allendale.
Married for over 70 years, John is survived by his loving wife Barbara. He also leaves to cherish his memory: two sons: J. Todd (Cynthia H.) Ladutko of Wilmington, DE, and Randy A. (M. Elizabeth) Ladutko of Harrisburg, NC; five grandchildren: J. Bradford Ladutko, Jennifer Ladutko Sewell (Hayden), J. Cody Ladutko (Lindsay A.), Alexandra A. Ladutko and M. Brooke Ladutko; one great-granddaughter, Cora Faith Ladutko as well as Todd and Randy’s great friend, Robert (Kelly) Royce who became the “3rd” son of the family.
He took great interest in all the activities of his family participated in, particularly sports. He was a life-long Yankees fan as well as the New York Giants.
He was a terrific husband, father and Pop-Pop. He was much loved and will always live in our hearts.
Services will be held Saturday, Dec. 18 at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home 177 Route 59 Suffern NY. The family will receive friends from 10 – 11am. Funeral service will begin at 11am. Interment to follow at Airmont Lutheran Cemetery, Airmont NY.
