John worked at Lederle Laboratories in Pearl River, N.Y., from 1966-1968 before joining the Spring Valley Police in September of 1968, where he served as Sergeant and Lieutenant before retiring as acting Police Chief in 1999. He was an avid sport shooter and bowler for many years, and will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53-and-a-half years, Helen Kelly; three children: Nila (Eric Wamsley) Cuti, John Kelly III and Lisa (Josh) Sommers; brother, Jayme Kelly; sister, Teresa (Franklin) Albaugh; eight grandchildren: Krystle (John Bowen) Cuti, Savannah Cuti, Darian Kelly, Faith Cuti, Marcus Wamsley, Stephanie Cohen, Hannah Cohen and Logan Cohen; great granddaughter Aaliyah Kelly, and two granddogs, Buddy and Mando.
John was pre-deceased by his parents, John Kelly (1991) and Rosalie Kelly (1993).
The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 29 from 3 to 8 pm at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home, 177 NY-59, Suffern, NY. Funeral mass 11:30am Thursday, December 30 at St. Anthony’s Church, 36 West Nyack Road, Nanuet, N.Y. 10954, with burial to follow.
