Linda York was born to John and Laura (Spinney) Falt and lived most of her early years in Newton and Framingham, MA. Following graduation from Framingham HS, Class of 1959, Linda earned an Associates’ Degree from Lasell Junior College in Newton, MA in 1961. While at Lasell, she met and then soon married Donald F. York (deceased). For most of her adult years Linda resided and raised a family of four in Wayland, MA. She also lived in Poughkeepsie and White Plains, NY and Norwood, Burlington and Wellesley, MA.
When Linda’s children were older, she attended Boston College and became an Executive Assistant at Raytheon Corporation for 28 years. Linda had three sisters: Rosalind (Falt) with Sam Finton of Millington, TN, Suzanne Harrington (Falt, deceased) and Christine Gibney (Falt) of Framingham, MA. Linda raised four children: Robert with Fariba York of Arden, NC, Andrew with Kristi York of Portland, OR, Kathryn (York) with Brian Blanchard of Northbridge, MA and Steven York of Wayland, MA. Linda had 5 granddaughters: Hailey & Kendall York of OR and Emma, Lindsey & Isabelle Piel of MA, plus many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Linda was an avid reader and helped to organize a book club for her Wayland community, loved to knit for her family members, enjoyed gardening flowers and was working up a family cookbook. Linda knew her family history and recently developed an interest in its role in New England’s maritime history. Above all else, Linda put her family’s needs before her own and was always there to lend a helping hand or share a meal and laughs with her loved ones.
Visiting hours will be held 2-6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 4th, at Duckett - J.S. Waterman & Sons in Sudbury, Massachusetts. The family kindly requests all guests go directly to the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. Thursday morning for a gathering before the procession to the Cemetery. Grave side services will be held at 11:30 A.M. at Edgell Grove Cemetery in Framingham. Following the burial family and friends are invited to join them at Conrad's Restaurant at 120 Boston Post Rd, in Sudbury.
