William Lee "Billy" Chandler

Born October 31, 1952 in Staunton he was a son of the late Lyle Abraham and Florine Virginia (Campbell) Chandler. On March 15, 1980 he married Pamela Verne Burgeson. The two shared 43 wonderful years of marriage.

Billy was a graduate of Riverheads High School Class of 1972. He was the owner and operator of Chandler Landscaping but above all he had a deep passion for farming. He loved spending time with his family, watching his grandson and son-in-law compete in truck and tractor pulls, going for long drives, and attending farm auctions. Billy was a member of Stuarts Draft Baptist Church. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend to many.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Richardson; brother, Ronnie Chandler; nephew, Jeremy Chandler; and mother-in-law, Dolores Robertson.

Survivors include his wife, Pamela Verne Chandler of Staunton; three daughters, Kelly Chandler and boyfriend, Anthony Henley, of Staunton, Laurie Adams and husband, Kenneth, of Greenville, and Danielle Bottenfield and husband, Stevie, of Swoope; eight grandchildren, Kaitlyn Allman, Hunter Allman, Alisha Henley, Steven Bottenfield and wife, Destiny, Brittany Bottenfield, Cheyenne Bottenfield, Robbie Adams, and Cody Adams; great-grandson, Lane Webb and two soon to be great-grandchildren to be born; brothers, Gerry Chandler and wife, Shelley, of Stuarts Draft and Mark Chandler of Stuarts Draft; sister, Connie (Chandler) Lotts and husband, Barry, of Stuarts Draft; brother-in-law, Freddie Richardson of Harrisonburg; sister-in-law, Connie Griffin of Montebello; a number of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his dog, Sadie and cat, George.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, June 26, 2023 at the Stuarts Draft Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 1870 Stuarts Draft Highway, Stuarts Draft.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at Stuarts Draft Baptist Church, 2517 Stuarts Draft Highway, Stuarts Draft, with Pastor Billy Coffey officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary United Methodist Church Cemetery, Stuarts Draft.

Active pallbearers will be Stevie Bottenfield, Steven “TT” Bottenfiled, Anthony Henley, Camden Kuhn, Kenneth Adams, Hunter Allman, Lane Webb, and Guy D. Brooks.

The family would like to give a special heartfelt thank you to the staff of Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah for their love and care of Billy.
