She was born November 1, 1955 in Waynesboro to the late Lyle and Edith Kindig.
Julia graduated from Stuarts Draft High School and graduated from James Madison University with a degree in Art.
She taught Art for several years with Augusta County Public Schools.
Later she went into business for herself where she owned and operated Val-Pak of Shenandoah Valley and Charlottesville for fifteen years.
Julia became a Christian in 1967 at the age of 11. She was an active member of Stuarts Draft Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother Vernon Kindig.
Survivors include her husband James S. Childress; daughters, Terra, Jasmine, a son, Jamie, grandchildren; Oshea, Areian, Peyton and Nolan, a brother; John Kindig and wife Debbie.
She also leaves a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday October 22, 2014 at Stuarts Draft Baptist Church by the Rev. Dr. Will Kopp officiating.
Burial will follow at Mt. Vernon Church of the Brethren.
Active pallbearers will be Steve Corbin, Ashley Kindig, Wayne Harvey, Tim Welsh, Jim Brooks, James Lee Kindig and Maurice Appl.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, October 21, from 6:00p.m to 8:00p.m. at Stuarts Draft Baptist Church.
