James Edward Allen, 81, of Waynesboro passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at the Stuarts Draft Christian Home.
Born November 18, 1932 in Montebello, Virginia; he was the son of the late Luther G. and Mattie (Hatter) Allen.
He was employed by General Electric for 28 years where he worked as a welder until his retirement in 1976. James was a lifelong member of Fishersville Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family, outdoor gardening and hunting.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Allen; three sisters; two brothers; one grandson.
Survivors include his loving children, Donna Baldwin and husband, Richard of Fishersville and Steve Allen and wife, Crystal of Stuarts Draft; grandchildren, Demie and Harlie Allen; brother, George Allen of Stuarts Draft; Sister, Agnes (Allen) Coffey of Staunton.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Calvary United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. John Sullivan officiating.
There will be no formal viewing or visitation at the funeral home. Those wishing may visit with the family at their residences.
The Allen family would like to extend a special heartfelt thank you to all of the employees of the Stuarts Draft Christian Home and for Dr. Dennis Hatter for the years of special care and support of their father.
