Douglas “Doug” Kent Hoffman, 79, of Stuarts Draft, passed away on Wednesday January 3, 2024, surrounded by family.
Doug was born in Las Animas, Colorado to Ray and Dolores (Gall) Hoffman on February 15, 1944.
He went to school in Las Animas, Colorado, and graduated the class of 1962. He married the love of his life, Peggy (Conklin) Hoffman on September 1, 1972, in La Junta, Colorado. He dedicated his career to NIBCO where he worked his way up from Maintenance to Purchasing Manager in the 37 years with the company. NIBCO was the reason the family moved from their hometown in Colorado to Virginia in 1986. He gifted his time and talents to others while being a volunteer firefighter and EMT with the La Junta Fire Department. He served in the United States Naval Construction Battalion, known as the Seabees.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Dolores Hoffman.
Doug is survived by his wife of 51 years, Peggy; his children, Corey (Kellie) Hoffman, Cindy (Mike) Schwartz, Brandy (Troy) Austin, and Heather (Kevin) Henningson; his twin sister, Linda (Roger) Mitchell and sister, Connie Holley; his grandchildren, Taylor (Rory) Hardridge, Hannah (Jacob) Hamilton, Julian Welcher, Lauren Austin, Rebecca Austin, Chloe Kennedy, Olivia Kennedy; his great grandchildren, Liam Bruch, Cara Hardridge, Nicole and Penelope Hamilton.
A private graveside service will be held at Augusta Memorial Park.
Family night will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at the Stuarts Draft Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.
