Obituary of David Marion Clawson
David Marion Clawson, 87, of Stuarts Draft, VA and formerly of Glenshaw and Gibsonia, PA passed away on Friday June 7, 2024, at The Legacy at North Augusta in Staunton, VA. Mr. Clawson was born on July 11, 1936, in Pittsburgh, PA and was the son of the late Frederick Marion Clawson and Jenibe (Miller) Clawson. He worked for Westinghouse early in his career, and later for numerous companies in engineering support roles. David, as an Elder at Parkwood U.P. Church was called as a Lay Pastor to Indianola U.P. Church. He eventually obtained his ministry credentials while pastoring the South Hills Congregational Church. David was very active in Masonic organizations and as a volunteer throughout his life. Most recently he and wife, Shirley attended Hampton Presbyterian Church and were members of the local AARP Chapter. Mr. Clawson enjoyed writing, bowling and traveling. Mr. Clawson is survived by his children, David M. Clawson, Jr. and wife Teresa (McCormick) of Stuarts Draft, VA; Daryl L. Mocilnikar and husband Floyd of Pensacola, FL; 10 grandchildren, Andrew W. Clawson (Courtney), Sarah E. Miller (Kevin), Jeremy D. Clawson, Allyson Clawson Foster (Jacob), Joshua D. Neimetz (Kristianna), Jonathan A. Neimetz, Jordan N. Neimetz (Leah), Jacob M. Edwards, Brooke E. Edwards; Brianna M. Collins (James), and 10 great-grandchildren. Near to his heart were his sister, Norma J. Ivory (Harry) and brother Paul E. Clawson (Florence). Six nieces and nephews along with many cousins comprised his remaining family. David was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley B. Clawson, son, Dean V. Clawson and great-grandson, Hutchinson K. Clawson. A memorial service will be held on June 29, at 1 PM at Mount Royal Cemetery’s Mausoleum in Glenshaw, PA. with Pastor Jordan Neimetz facilitating the service.
