Barbara Louise Hewitt Kelly

Barbara Louise (Hewitt) Kelly, 75, passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2013, after a courageous battle from a long illness. She was born on October 25, 1937, to Russell and Dorothy Hewitt. She was raised in the Lyndhurst and Sherando area of Augusta County. She married her sweetheart, Hansel Kelly, on April 6, 1968, and moved to Smithfield, where she lived the rest of her life. Barbara was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She was an incredible mother to her children, and she loved her family beyond measure. Barbara and Hansel shared almost 50 years of love and memories together, before his death in November, 2012. She also lost her daughter, Gabbie "Tootie" in 2004. What a glorious reunion God hath given in reuniting her with her loved ones she loved and missed so dearly. Barbara loved the Lord and was ready when He called her name. She will be missed beyond words by her family; and Glory be to God, for our loss is Heaven's gain. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter; and brother, Russell "Dave" Hewitt. She is survived by her children, Fabian (Kaye) Hewitt, Becky (Curt) Curtis, Patricia (Clyde) Abernathy, Marian (Andy) Edwards, Mark (Janet) Kelly and Kevin Kelly. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Amy Hewitt and Sheldon Boykin, Haileigh Sowers, Russell and Rebekah Curtis, Gary, Kimberly and Chris Hewitt, and Brooke and Taylor Elliott; sisters, Rose Whitesell and Lorraine "Prenny" Campbell of Waynesboro; and a brother, Ruby "Buddy" Hewitt of Afton; and a host of extended family. A visitation will be held 12:30 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 2013, at the Stuarts Draft Mennonite Church. A service will follow immediately at the church with the Reverend Dennis Bradley officiating.
