Alvin Roy Conner

Alvin Roy Conner, 85, of Stuarts Draft, passed away on Monday, September 30, 2024 at Linden House Assisted Living in Charlottesville.
Roy was born in Stuarts Draft to Ethel (Caudle) Conner and Everett Conner on January 21st, 1939, one of 15 children. Roy became an Electrical Engineer and had a long and successful career, working for GM, Strongberg Carlson which became ComDial, then culminating with a 15 year job with Northrop Grumman in Charlottesville. In his spare time, Roy enjoyed tinkering with electronics and volunteering with the Food Bank at Calvary United Methodist Church, where he was a long time member. Roy was also a voracious reader, and loved to learn.
Roy was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 34 years, Ruth Conner. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Curtis Conner, Clyde Conner, Ray Conner, and Richard Conner; as well as sisters, Betty Allen, Maxine Kinder, and Phyllis Moran.
Roy is survived by his son, Calvin Conner of Charlottesville; brother, David Conner, Doug Conner, Steve Conner, and Gene Conner; as well as sisters, Doris Fitzgerald, Kay Cook and Ann Arbogast. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted on Monday, October 7, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. at the Stuarts Draft Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes with Pastor David Vaughan officiating. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Church Cemetery, 702 Trimbles Mill Rd in Swoope.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 6, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Stuarts Draft Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.
