We are gathered here today to mourn the loss of Sofia Grace Thomas Laliberte but also to celebrate her life. If it were up to her, we would be celebrating. Everyone she has ever met, she has changed little by little. She made you laugh, she made you yell and now she has made you cry. She was the sunshine in everyone’s life. She was smart, kind and funny.
I'm going to share with you a moment with her that shows how sweet her soul truly was. She was maybe two years old and I was so stressed that day. I needed a good cry so I walked out of the room she was in and went and sat down in another room and started bawling my eyes out. Couple minutes go by and I hear her approach me. She grabbed my face and said mama don't cry its OK and I cried a little harder. She let go of my face and walked away, when she came back she had a piece of toilet paper in her hand. She started wiping my tears telling me everything is OK.
That was who she was. Someone that would wipe your tears and remind you how great you really were. So even though she is no longer here she will continue to wipe our tears while we grieve the loss of such a beautiful person.
I'm going to say a little more about her that some of you may not know. She loved to garden. She spent almost every morning watering her plants. She loved animals so much so that she would call people Lil weasels or a couple times she called me a little cow. I told her certain animals were off limits. She loved her dolls and would always be coming up with silly names for them. She loved to swim and she loved to make people laugh. Her laugh was so contagious and she would laugh at the silliest things. One of her favorite things to laugh at was the little Caesar commercials on TV when they said "pizza pizza". That is what we need to remember about her we need to tell her stories and laugh because that's what she would of wanted.
My daughter will continue to live on in the people's life she saved in her last moments. As well as in our laughter and in everything I do from this point forward. May you rest in paradise my sweet baby girl, mommy loves you.
