STUART, FL – Robert E. Jones, 91, former resident of Summitville IN, passed away on Sunday, September 26, 2021 at his residence in Stuart, FL, following a brief illness. He was laid to rest on October 1, 2021 in Summitville, IN.
Bob was born on September 5, 1930 in Alexandria, IN, to Lawrence and Inez (Barnes) Jones. He was a graduate of Alexandria High School Class of 1948 and attended Ball State Teachers College in Muncie, IN. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Anchorage, AK as an engineer He was honorably discharged as a Corporal in 1953. In 1954 he married Belvadeen Ruth Greenlee until her untimely death in 1975. He remarried Ruth Ann Owens in 1978.
Working in the aerospace industry for over 30 years, Bob was Vice President of Hoosier Metal Fabricators in Gas City, IN and Vice President of ERK Manufacturing in Stuart, FL. He retired in 1982.
Bob attended the First Baptist Church of Port Salerno, FL. His faith was in the Lord Jesus Christ. He enjoyed radio-controlled airplanes, antique automobiles, the Smokey Mountains, playing, golf, watching football, and reading.
Bob is survived by his two sons, Stephen (Lori) Jones and Michael (Paula) Jones, all of Stuart; grandchildren Niki Jones (Garrett) Reddish, Michael R. Jones, Dustin S. Jones, and Kaley (Dane) Alma; great grandchildren include Levi, Jaxson, Maddox, Penelope, and Madison; a sister-in-law Marilyn Smith of Alexandria, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Belvadeen and mother of his children in 1975, his wife Ruth Ann Jones in 2009, and a grandson, Stephen Jones Jr. in 2011.
Memorial services honoring Bob’s life and legacy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 23, at Aycock Funeral Home, 6801 SE Federal Highway, Stuart, FL.
