Joan was born in Brooklyn, New York to the late Clarence and Ethel Bailey (Bond). She moved from New York to Florida in 1972 before settling in Pembroke Pines, Florida in 1973. Joan has been a resident of Port St. Lucie since 1994 and has lived on the Treasure Coast of Florida since 1982, when she relocated to Stuart, Florida. Joan worked in the banking industry and retired after working many years as a Director for the American Heart Association in Martin County, Florida. She donated tens of thousands of hours over 20 years, to The Martin Memorial Auxiliary. Joan served as Past President of The Auxiliary. She was very active at Redeemer Lutheran Church . She loved and adored her family. Situational Humor from her family gave her joy and laughter. Joan had a passion for quilting, needle-points, and sewing. She had a green thumb when it came to raising her orchids. Joan will forever be remembered for her giving demeanor and helping others before herself.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Lemke in 2018; brother, Jim Bailey; and sister, Margaret Leiken.
Survivors include her son, Bill Lemke (Stephanie); daughters, Debbie Lemke and Victoria Thomason; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild.
There will be a Life Celebration Gathering at Aycock Funeral Home, 505 SW Federal Hwy Stuart, Florida 34994 on Saturday April 27, 2019 from 11am-12pm with a Memorial Service at 12pm. Committal will immediately follow at Fernhill Memorial Gardens in Stuart, Florida.
