Surrounded by his loved ones, Gerald Edward Mehlich, 77, passed away on July 12, 2018 at his home in Stuart, FL.
Gerald was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and has lived in Stuart for over 45 years. A graduate of Archbishop Curly High School in Miami, Jerry left Miami for Florida State University in the ROTC program. He served in the US Army after college graduation and then joined the seminary of St. Vincent DePaul. After 3 years, he started his CPA career and his own firm in Stuart in 1975.
His many memberships warranted him several awards in the community including but not limited to Chairman of Martin Memorial Foundation, Board of Directors Martin Memorial Hospitals, President of United Way Martin County, and Board of Directors of American Red Cross.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, cigars, playing pickle ball, watching FSU football, driving the classic Mustang, trying new restaurants and doting on his grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving children, Heidi Albrecht (daughter) and Grant Mehlich (son); and Brent Albrecht (son in law) and 4 grandchildren: Juliette, Garrett, Connor and Caden.
Gerald was preceded in death by his wife, Molly Mehlich and daughter, Ellen Gittin.
There will be mass in honor of him at St. Martin’s DePorres in Jensen Beach on Friday, August 3, at 10:30am and a celebration of life party at the The Dolphin Bar after mass, 12-3:30pm.
Memorial contributions may be made in Gerald’s memory to Treasure Coast Hospice and Big Brothers Foundation.
