Kathryn Weatherwax

Kathryn was born on October 9, 1919 to Salvatore and Guiseppa Prestipino in San Piero DiPatti in Sicily. She is predeceased by her husband Frank Lewis Weatherwax, her parents, three brothers Michael, Dominic, Ernest Prestipino and their spouses, Mary, Connie and Joan respectfully. She is also predeceased by her three sisters Mary Mimmo, Rose Jones and Josephine Grimes and their spouses, Angelo Mimmo, Charles Jones and James Grimes, as well as her sister-in-law Helen Prestipino. Kathryn is survived by her sons Francis and his wife Mary (nee Halgren), Richard and his wife Kathy (nee Larkin) and her five grandchildren and their spouses; Richard (Noreen) Weatherwax, Michael Weatherwax, Debra (Kevin) Maye, Tara (Charles) Fausel, Leslie (James) Furnari. She is also survived by her twelve great-grandchildren- Ryan, Madison, Joseph, Gustave, Thomas, Neive, Riley, Karlie, Max, Kiera, James and Julia. Kathryn is also survived by her brother Anthony Prestipino and many nieces and nephews.

Kathryn worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for several local car dealerships. She also prepared taxes and worked the polls during elections. She was a member of the Stony Point Senior Citizens and Pocahantas Organization. Kathryn was proud to be a graduate of the first class of the “new” Haverstraw High School.

Kathryn’s greatest joy was her family. She loved to cook and was happiest with a houseful of her family and friends. She was loved by all.

Kathryn’s family would like to thank all her aides who lovingly cared for her.

Family will receive guests on Wednesday January 20th from the hours of 3-7pm at Michael J Higgins Funeral Service 73 North Liberty Dr. Stony Point, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 21th at 10am at Immaculate Conception Church in Stony Point, NY. Interment to follow at Mt. Repose Cemetery in Haverstraw, NY.
